Mina Mahmood

National Policy Associate

Mina Mahmood is the National Policy Associate at For the People, where she spearheads data-oriented initiatives and assists with policy research and synthesis for the National Policy Team. Mina came to this role after learning about the deep injustices in the criminal legal system that disproportionately harm BIPOC communities. Through coursework and organizing at Stanford University, Mina developed a commitment to transformative justice and rethinking systems of accountability.

Prior to joining For The People full-time, Mina was also a Data Science Fellow at the organization. In that role, she developed a data pipelining automation tool that expedites case review time for Prosecutor-Initiated Resentencing. Mina also worked as a Data Science Consultant at Initiate Justice, an LA-based nonprofit working to end mass incarceration.

Mina holds a Master’s in Public Policy degree and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Stanford University. In her free time, Mina enjoys mixing music, dancing, and watching sunsets. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
