Laurie Moran
Legal Assistant / Paralegal
Laurie Moran is the Legal Assistant and Paralegal at For The People, where she collaborates closely with the legal team to support incarcerated individuals and their networks throughout the resentencing process.
Before joining For The People, Laurie was an entrepreneur, successfully running her own business. She also previously served as Director of Youth Services for a nonprofit sitting at the intersection of criminal justice, mental health, and education. Additionally, Laurie has extensive experience working in law firms as an office manager, paralegal, and legal assistant.
A Massachusetts native, Laurie’s dedication to ending mass incarceration recently brought her to the Bay Area. Her lifelong commitment to advocacy and activism has included volunteering in reentry programs, domestic abuse and homeless shelters, and supporting an exoneree network for people reintegrating after decades of wrongful imprisonment. This passion ultimately inspired her to transition her advocacy into a full-time career.
In her free time, Laurie enjoys connecting with her community, hiking, exploring the West Coast, swimming, attending concerts, and practicing Zumba. On weekends, she teaches mindfulness, meditation, and healing classes at a correctional institution.
