Micah Russell
LSFN Fellow
Micah Russell is the LSFN Fellow at For The People, where he supports the legal team in reviewing case files to advance Prosecutor-Initiated Resentencing.
Micah came to this role after he took a course in Poverty Law during his final semester in law school at the University of San Francisco . That course inspired Micah to use his law degree to help people who lack the resources and ability to advocate for themselves, especially around criminal justice reform.
Prior to For The People, Micah was a legal intern at the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), a nonprofit working in data privacy law and policy. At the NAI, Micah recognized the value of nonprofit organizations in the law for establishing meaningful guidelines for self-regulation and initiating legal innovation. Micah also has a degree in Middle East Studies and Arabic from Brigham Young University.
In his free time Micah enjoys hiking, sitting in the sun with a glass of wine, or going to the park to play pickup soccer. Micah currently resides in San Francisco with his fiancé and a golden retriever.
