Christina Svenson

SENIOR Communications Manager

Christina Svenson is the Senior Communications Manager at For The People, where she leads public relations efforts to expand the national recognition and adoption of Prosecutor-Initiated Resentencing.

Prior to For The People, Christina was a Senior Account Executive at a boutique Bay Area communications agency, SutherlandGold. There, she developed brand messaging, positioning, and media strategy for organizations across a range of industries—from healthcare to consumer brands. There, she saw the impact of incarceration on Oakland families. Her work at Girls, Inc. planted the seed that would later lead Christina towards efforts in improving and transforming the justice system.

Christina was born and raised in Panama City, Panama. She is also an accomplished writer and poet, with two published books of poetry as well as writing in Slate, Insider, Vice, among others. She holds a  B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and lives in Oakland, CA with her dog Mimi.
